SAVE THE DATES: Nonviolent Communication Workshop!

The Lotus Center is proud to partner with the Silver City Food Co-op to offer a weekend Nonviolent Communication (“NVC”) training. Karen Starz, a certified NVC trainer, will be coming over from Truth or Consequences to lead the training.

Nonviolent communication, developed by Marshall Rosenberg (1934 — 2015), is a practice through which one can learn to hear their own deeper needs and those of others. By emphasizing deep listening—to ourselves as well as others—NVC helps us discover our own capacity for great compassion. This language reveals the awareness that all human beings are only trying to honor universal values and needs, every minute, every day. NVC can be seen as both a spiritual practice that helps us see our common humanity, using our power in a way that honors everyone’s needs, and a concrete set of skills which help us create life-serving families and communities.

The dates of the training are . . .

Friday, November 3 — Early evening mixer/ice-breaker
Saturday, November 4 — A full day of NVC training
Sunday, November 5 — An early afternoon training on providing and receiving “collaborative feedback”

All sessions will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City. Exact times, and information on cost and registration will be forthcoming in early October. Please consider joining us for this special peace training!
