Dear treasured Lotus Center supporters,
We’re happy to share with you some important and positive changes regarding how students will pay for movement classes at Lotus Center. In order to (hopefully) keep you from falling asleep, we’ll brief you on these changes through a series of questions and
answers . . .
Changes? What changes?!?
Effective at Noon on Saturday, September 20, Lotus Center will no longer sell 10-Class Cards.
Folks who still have Class Cards with classes remaining to be used will have until December 31, 2025 to use the remaining classes on their Card(s).
Does this mean the price of the classes is going up??
No! The price of a $12 single, drop-in class is actually going down. Effective on Saturday, September 20, anyone who takes a class at Lotus and pays with cash or a check, will pay $10. That’s right! $10, which is the price of a class with the Class Card.
So, everyone will be a drop-in, pay-as-you-go student and everyone will pay the same rate. The only exception to this flat $10 rate is that for all credit/debit card purchases, the cost per class will be $11 (in person or online), in order to cover credit card processing fees.
So, again, for our 60- and 75-minute-long movement classes, here are the class fees for everyone: $10 if you pay by cash or check, and $11 if you pay with a credit or debit card in person or online.
I love my Class Cards! Why are you taking them from me?!?
The administrative burden just got to be too great. We tried everything we possibly could to automate the administration of Class Cards, but given the scale of our operation, we just couldn’t find a way. Brooke Cressler, the staff person who has manually (and painstakingly) kept track of the Class Cards for the last three years, will be reassigned for much-needed help with other Lotus Center projects.
In the first sentence you said something about “positive” changes. What’s positive about it?
In many ways, these changes will benefit all members of the Lotus Center community. Over the next few days and weeks we’ll describe more of those benefits, but one immediate benefit is that this pricing change will make Lotus Center more egalitarian.
Previously, a student had to come up with $100, the cost of a 10-class card, in order to enjoy the $10 per class rate. With the new, pay-as-you-go system, everyone paying with cash or check pays the same $10 rate. And everyone paying with a credit/debit card will
pay the same $11 rate.
Thank you for supporting your non-profit, community-owned Lotus Center. If you have any questions, comments, and/or complaints, please take a minute and write to us at info@LotusCenterSC.org
