If We Don’t Learn from Our Mistakes . . .

Living among the compassionate Buddhist cultures of Asia had brought undeniable insight and wisdom to my life. The people I’d encountered helped me realize that spirituality isn’t just about chanting prayers and ritual. It’s a way, embedded in our consciousness, we choose to live our lives. I believe that our actions create our future experiences: we get what we give. If we move through the world with love, we will receive it in return. If we move through the world with anger and bitterness, that is what will come back to us. I had long been attracted to the idea of karma. If we don’t learn from our mistakes, we are doomed to repeat them over and over until we get it right. I felt that this accident happened for a reason, and as with every challenge, there was a lesson for me to learn from it.
