Santosha is the second Niyama. Niyamas, or inner observances, are the second step in the 8-fold path of Raja Yoga. Santosha means contentment, and can also translate to acceptance and non-judgement of yourself. When we seek happiness externally, we will always seek more. When the external source of happiness is gone, its vacancy creates suffering. When we practice Santosha, we identify with our true form, the Self, which is perfect and complete, and find happiness from within.
