The Body of Faith (Part 4)

Your faith is also changing as a function of your understanding. Faith is a living thing, and its food is understanding. This is very important, and we have to remember this. If we cling to a notion or if we believe that that notion is the highest truth, we’ll get lost. If you believe that your knowledge is the highest peak of human knowledge, you’ll get lost. That kind of belief is not considered right belief.

So you have to be ready to let go of your notion of God, your understanding of Jesus, your notion of Buddha, and your understanding of the Buddha. You know that when climbing a ladder, you have to abandon the lower step in order to come to a higher one. Although you abandon it, you know the lower step has served you. It has been useful in the process of your learning and practice.
