A deep dive on Myssage . . .

The practice of Myssage targets the Myofascial system.  The fascia connects and separates everything in the body.  It is a network of tissue made up of primarily collagen and elastin.  Tendon, ligament, disks cartilage, and membranes surrounding the body’s organs and muscles are all examples of this web-like tissue.  This three-dimensional net gives shape to the body and serves as the home for the sensory nerves.  These sensory nerves are the communication system between the brain and the body.  When the fascia is hydrated, it is pliable and resilient, within this soft environment the sensory nerves engage in a constant dialogue of signals sending important information about our inner and outer world.

The connective tissue is also a superhighway for the transportation of oxygen and nutrients from cell to cell.  Every aspect of health and movement improves when the connective tissue is hydrated.  Without this soft, supple environment the body’s internal communications cannot travel with speed and accuracy. They can get suck in fascial adhesions creating a traffic jam on the highway. The nerve signals become disrupted.  This disruption has many manifestations in the body: stiffness, tenderness, swelling, aching, and pain are the most common.  Other symptoms that may be indications of hardened, dry fascia are; insomnia, low libido, fatigue, headaches, sluggish digestion, anxiety, and even depression.

Myssage uses movement under pressure to soften and re-hydrate the connective tissue.  The pressure is created by your own body weight.  The knobs of the Myssage balls penetrate deep into fascial junctions to awaken the nerves which can then stimulate strong signals of healing.
