Compassion for Our Obstacles

“Someone might imagine spirituality to be a form of biting the lip, becoming a sort of spiritual soldier facing a formidable enemy within. From this place, it may seem that there is a long arduous journey ahead before achieving any relief from suffering. Some might imagine that countless hours of analysis and self-discipline are required to purify obstacles. Tantra, and especially Chöd, is the opposite of this. Our friendly and gentle attitude is everything. By facing the obstacles of lifelong inner poisons and suffering, they readily release under the profound implements of love, compassion, joy, and equanimity.”
