Save the Dates: Apocalypse and the Change of Yogic Eras

Apocalypse and the Change of Yogic Eras
with Marc Nevas

The ancient Greeks created the word “apocalypse” defining it as “to expose and reveal that which was hidden and would not be seen if not for an apocalypse.” It also encompasses “a sense of divine revelation or insight.” *

According to yoga philosophy, Kali Yuga — the era of the dominance of materialism and greed — is ending and we are in the period where many hidden misdeeds are becoming known all at once. We are transitioning into Satva Yuga, the golden age of truth and spirituality. What we are experiencing now is the awareness of the harm done in the current age of materialism and greed in order to clear the path for the new age of Satva Yuga. What is our role as Yogis, Buddhists and people of spiritual and moral values in bringing about a new era for humanity and the planet?

The old order is falling to be replaced by the new. What will that new order look like and what is the role of spirituality and deep morality in these changing times? Now is the time to utilize the opportunity presented by apocalypse, the rapid uncovering of the dark results of greed and materialism. Are there pathways to build a better, just and compassionate human society? If so let’s explore them together in this series.

• Class One (October 17): What are the ages or yugas according to yoga philosophy? Where are we in the yugas?
• Class Two (October 31: Neohumanism as the foundation for a new society. Five Practices of Neohumanism we can engage in our lives now.
• Class Three (November 7): The Progressive Utilization Theory as a practical guide for implementing effective ground-up governance, cooperative economics, and ethical compassionate leadership in this transitional time.
• Class Four (November 14): Our role as spiritual, ethical, and compassionate beings as supporters for change and the birth of the new era of Satva Yuga.

*The Christian interpretation of apocalypse came at least two centuries after the word and concept was originated by the Greeks.
