Please Help Us Fill Our Prayer Wheel!

Image of Buddhist prayer wheels with one of them being turned by a hand.

Silver City needs a prayer wheel for everyone’s benefit!

A prayer wheel is a cylindrical wheel—commonly made of metal, wood, or stone—that is installed on a spindle. It’s filled, literally, with millions of prayers of compassion and other sacred. In addition to prayers of compassion, the inside of the wheel will be filled with other sacred offerings.

Where will these offerings come from? How about you?

From now through the beginning of May, Lotus Center will happily welcome the donation of any sacred object that you would like to offer to go into the prayer wheel.

Our prayer wheel will be non-denominational, representing all religions and spiritual paths.

Examples of offerings include, but are not limited to…

  • An unframed photo of a saint, deity, or other holy being
  • An unframed photo of a relative or other loved one
  • Prayer beads
  • A sacred book
  • Small statues
  • Crystals or stones
  • A written prayer
  • Really, any object that will send loving energy out into the world is suitable.

We have only two requests:

  • So that everyone’s offering can be included, please make the size of your offering small: for example, books, or photos should be no larger than 5″x7“ inches. Other objects, statues, for example, should be no larger than 2 or 3 inches high.
  • No food items

It’s auspicious to wrap your offering in some sort of decorative paper. You can leave your offering in Lotus’ reception area when the lobby is open. Or, of course, you can always leave it at the back patio.

We will be presenting the prayer wheel on May 21, so mark your calendars and stay tuned for more information!

Thank you for supporting peace in southwest New Mexico
