A Doorway to the Openness of Being (3/5)

Often the inner space we perceive is announced by loss and then occupied by our nervousness, uncertainty, anger, or lack of confidence. We frequently respond to discomfort with aversion. But we can choose a different view. We can release the energy that goes into aversion and see loss as an opportunity—a doorway to the openness of being. The first refuge is to connect with the unbounded space of being. Connecting with the space of being is also the first step in expressing creatively. The refuge is discovered within. But if you close your eyes and look within yourself, very often you become aware of internal chatter or discomfort. You identify with the discomfort because it is so familiar. Then, with the thought I am uncomfortable, you get stuck.
