The following note is from Jeff Goin, a meditation teacher at Lotus Center . . .
Happy New Year, friends,
You may know that, for the last three or four years, I have been leading a Monday and Friday morning (8:30 — 9:00 AM) meditation class at Lotus Center.
In late October, having just finished our reading of a book titled In Love with the World by Yongey Mingyur, I sent out an email to the regular attendees of our Monday/Friday Morning Dharma classes asking what they/we would like to do next with our classes. The three most common responses were . . .
— Please continue using a book as the basis for the teachings and discussion.
— Please orient the classes toward “foundational” Dharma (the term “Dharma” means “wisdom teachings”) topics.
— Please orient the classes more toward Buddhist study and meditation.
I summarized these requests in our November 3, 2025 class, a YouTube link for which is here . . .
As I explained in the November 3 class, the material to be covered in upcoming classes will be . . .Â
1) The life of Buddha (approximate length: three classes)
2) The Four Noble Truths (five or six classes)
3) The 21 Lamrim meditations (three or four months of classes)
The term “Lamrim” means “stages of the path,” as in “stages of the path to enlightenment.” As such, if you are interested in learning (or learning more) about Buddhism, this could be a good opportunity for you. If you do decide to partake of this offering I would encourage you to try to attend class consistently. We all understand, of course, that “life happens,” and sometimes attending class simply isn’t possible. If you do have to miss a class(es), please note that all classes are recorded and posted to Lotus’ YouTube channel; thus, you’ll be able to keep up w/ the teachings/meditations even if you have to miss a class here and there.
The text that we will draw from for the Lamrim meditations and teachings will be The New Meditation Handbook by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. If you plan on participating in the classes, I would encourage you to purchase a copy; here is an Amazon link to the book (used copies are also available on the internet) . . .

The new orientation (i.e., Buddhist-orientation) will begin on Monday, January 5; both in-person and online participation is welcomed. To participate via Zoom, please go to Lotus Center’s website at . . .
. . . go to “Monday Morning Dharma” or “Friday Morning Dharma” and click on the “Register” button.” All classes are offered by donation.
Should you have questions about any aspect of these classes, please don’t hesitate to write to me at info@LotusCenterSC.org
With respect and best wishes,
jeff
