
When Jesus said that we must agree with our adversary lest we be cast into prison, he was using a figure of speech in reference to our self-imposed limitations. Hate casts the one who indulges it into a prison of his own making, just as fear casts one into the prison of doubt. We build the walls that enclose us. We lock the door, shutting ourselves from the light.
