SAVE THE DATE: Transforming Reactivity through the Four Noble Truths

Join meditation and deep ecology facilitator Darvesha MacDonald on Three consecutive Thursdays starting October 15, 2026 from 5:30p.m. – 6:30p.m.

About the Class :
Darvesha will be offering a method for meeting reactivity with wisdom.  This is based on the Buddha’s Four Noble Truths, but offers, as he did, action we can take, rather than something in which we are asked to believe. Substituting response for reaction releases us from the suffering we experience in contraction. We move from triggered to awake, cultivating open hearts and open minds. As the Dalai Lama says, “For true happiness to come about, we need a calm mind.”

Each session will include dharma instruction, meditation time, and discussion. All are welcome. This is a practice for anybody, no matter what your spiritual practice.  Although you could come to any one of these 3 classes, each one will build from the previous one so it would be better if you can be with us from the beginning.

May all beings be free from reactivity!

About Darvesha:
Darvesha first encountered the Buddha Dharma in Boudhanath Nepal and later in Dharamsala India where she studied Tibetan Buddhism in the Gelugpa lineage in monastic settings. She later received Dzogchen pointing-out instruction (ngo sprod) from Nyoshul Khenpo and Tsoknyi Rinpoche (Kagyu and Nyingma) on their first visit to the United States. Eventually her long retreats and deep practice focused on the Theravada Mahasi Sayadaw tradition guided by Sayadaw U Pandita and Joseph Goldstein. Today she considers her primary teacher to be Stephen Batchelor who was a monk both in the Gelugpa tradition and the Korean Zen (Seon) tradition, but now teaches a non-sectarian form of Buddhism that steps away from traditional institutional hierarchies and dogmatic lineages and specifically emphasizes the fundamental ethics foundational in the Buddhist perspective.

Darvesha leads groups internationally in meditation and deep ecology. Darvesha believes that as we come to understand our interdependent and contingent nature, we free ourselves from reactivity and suffering. From here we create the conditions that bring peace and happiness to ourselves and to all of life. We are released into caring, compassionate action for all beings, and our practice and our life become one.
