SAVE THE DATE: Yoga with Cordelia Rose Every Wednesday Starting on September 16

For about a year, yogini Cordelia Rose has taught Finding Your Center twice a month. Due to popular demand, beginning on September 16 Cordelia will be holding her class every week.

About the class . . . Finding Your Center is a 90-minute class that begins with pranayama and just sitting in the present moment.  Gentle asana follows, warming up the muscles and easing the joints while keeping the mind calm.  Asanas vary from class to class, but follow a rhythm starting with sun salutations and continuing through seated, supine, prone and standing to inverted asanas.  The class winds down with pranayama, savasana with yoga nidra, and closes with hasta mudra, chanted mantra and a moment of seated stillness.  OM.

About the teacher . . . Cordelia Rose was fortunate to take her first yoga class decades ago at the Integral Yoga Centre in Manhattan, New York. The building was silent and she learned to respect the depth of yoga practice.  Moving to New Mexico, Cordelia became a student of the late Rama Jyoti Vernon who practiced with Mr. Iyengar when she was a child.  Hence, Cordelia teaches a wide range of poses in the Hatha Yoga tradition with an emphasis on alignment within the parameters of sweet discomfort, not pain. Cordelia offers explanations and careful adjustments.

PLEASE NOTE: As in the past year, Finding Your Center will be held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month (September 9); the class changes to every week beginning on September 16

TLC (“The Lotus Center”) in the Community . . .

Nonviolent Communication (“NVC”): In 2022 and 2023 Lotus Center partnered with the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City, and the Silver City Food Co-op, respectively, to provide weekend trainings in NVC, as presented in the text of the same title by author Marshall Rosenberg. For these trainings, each of which was attended by 35 people, a Truth or Consequences-based certified NVC instructor was retained. An outgrowth of those trainings is a weekly, ongoing NVC “Practice Group” which is offered at Lotus Center by donation with no one ever being turned away for lack of funds.
